The Q&A session took place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. 122 deputies asked questions of 3 Prime Ministers, 15 Ministers, the Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court, the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, and the Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate.

The Prime Minister clarified issues related to the Government’s responsibilities.

Reform and democracy

The Q&A session did not limit the contents or topics of the questions. National Assembly deputies asked questions about the management and direction of government agencies and judicial agencies, current issues, and issues pending from previous meetings.

Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, a deputy for Quang Binh province, said: “This year’s Q&A session is different. Since the start of the 14th National Assembly, all ministers, sector heads, and government leaders attended the Q&A session. Pending issues from previous meetings can be raised again at this session. The debate was publicized and transparent.”

The deputies said the debate was democratic and straight to the point.

Do Ngoc Thinh, a deputy for Khanh Hoa province said: “The questions and answers were processed in a democratic, transparent, and open manner. The Minister of Justice talked about the advantages, difficulties, goals, and strategies of law-making. The debate was productive. It will help improve the quality of law-making in the future.”

Increasing NA deputies oversight and responsibility

Bui Thanh Tung, a deputy for Hai Phong city, said: “The deputies and cabinet members carefully prepared for the Q&A session which showed their high sense of responsibility to people. The questions were straight to the point and the answers were clear and sufficient. The Chairpersons kept the debate organized and relaxed.”

The Q&A session showed that the Government, the Supreme People’s Court, and the Supreme People’s Procuracy have strictly and actively implemented the NA’s resolutions.

NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said: “The Q&A session was successful. The overall spirit is democratic, straight forward, and constructive. The result shows the government’s efforts and responsibility and the deputies’ oversight duties, which will create new momentum for national sustainable development.”

The Q&A session allows the National Assembly to oversee the government’s socio-economic management, identify achievements and problems, and work out solutions for Vietnam’s sustainable development.
