Son La ready for Vietnamese Fruit Festival 2022

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Fruit and OCOP (One Commune One Product) Festival 2022 will begin on Saturday in Son La city. Local businesses, cooperatives, and farmers have worked closely to make the event a success.

These days the Chieng Hac Safe Agriculture Cooperative in Yen Chau district is busily preparing for the Festival. Director Ha Van Son says the cooperative has 15 hectares of mango planted under the VietGap standards and has partnered with 30 households who have another 25 hectares.

Mr. Son says: "We feel very honored that our products have been selected for display at the Festival. We hope they will become better known in the market."

Thuan Chau district will display 24 outstanding local products at the Festival, including red flesh dragon fruit, passion fruit, oolong tea, Trong Nguyen tea, smoked meat, and typical cultural items of the local Thai ethnic group.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoang, Vice Chairman of Thuan Chau district’s People's Committee said: "We hope the Festival will help businesses, cooperatives, and farmers promote their products and get to know more about other products nationwide. We also hope to encourage them to engage in green, clean, sustainable agriculture."

Son La province has more than 84,000 hectares of fruit trees with a yield of nearly 450,000 tons per year. 24 local products are protected with Intellectual Property Certificates. The province has selected more than 220 local agricultural products to display at the festival.

Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Son La provincial People’s Committee, said: "The Festival will promote Son La province’s achievements in agricultural production and its shift to a commodity-based agricultural economy. We hope to attract more investment to our local agriculture.”
