Vietnamese people turn their hearts to central region

(VOVworld) – Torrential rains and heavy floods in the central region has claimed many lives over the past week. Thousands of houses and public works such as clinics, schools, roads, and irrigation facilities have been damaged. People in inundated areas, particularly in Quang Binh and Ha Tinh province, are suffering.  But they are not alone. People nationwide have turned their hearts and minds to helping them recover from the latest natural disaster.

Prime Minister Tran Dai Quang made his donation at a ceremony to appeal on all people to help people the central region.

All agencies of the Party, state, and government and socio-political organizations, such as the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Red Cross Society, are collecting donations for the central region. At an event organized by the Trade Union of the President’s Office, President Tran Dai Quang, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, and their staffs donated at least one day’s salary to help the coastal people restabilize their lives and resume production. The Prime Ministers and Deputy Prime Ministers have also made donations on October 19. National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan visited people affected by flooding in Huong Khe and Vu Quang district, Ha Tinh province.

President Tran Dai Quang has appealed to all Vietnamese people inside and outside Vietnam, all organizations, and all businesses to embrace the spirit of “the haves help the have-nots”. He urged them to make donations to help their compatriots in need. Humanitarian organizations and celebrities have received millions of USD from kindhearted people to help the people in the central region.

Newspapers and online social networks have helped raise money. Food, clothing, and other essential goods have been delivered to the central region. Donations through organizations and private channels have upheld the Vietnamese spirit of mutual support.
