(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) has started the first phase of supervision and inspection of the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils in the 2021-2026 term. The VFF will organize 5 supervision and inspection teams, each covering three provinces and centrally-run cities and one district in each covered province or city.

Along with organising consultative meetings to introduce candidates for the National Assembly and People’s Councils, the VFF is tasked with supervising and inspecting election work to ensure that the most qualified candidates are elected.
Strict procedures
The VFF has closely monitored preparations in localities in order to promptly identify difficulties, obstacles, and possible violations of electoral law and tell the localities how to resolve, or recommend administrative agencies to handle, such as issues to ensure that the election is democratic, legal, safe, and cost-effective.
VFF Vice President Ngo Sach Thuc said oversight work aims to ensure clear communications of election information to the public, including lists of candidates and their CVs, so voters can understand who they are voting for.
Thuc said: “The oversight program focuses on the involvement of the VFF branches in election work at all levels. All electoral units include representatives of the VFF and other organizations. We concentrate on the communications of the election and qualifications of candidates and organize consultative meetings in line with the law”.

“VFF units at each level carry out their tasks in line with a 16-step procedure in order to properly handle the situation. Everything should be resolved before election day on May 23rd. Oversight ensures thorough and fair preparations,” said Thuc.
To obtain the best results
VFF Vice President and Secretary General Hau A Lenh said oversight is one of the most important tasks of the Front. Early this year VFF issued an oversight plan and instructions. VFF branches have been urged to closely follow the instructions of the National Electoral Council and organize oversight activities as specified by law for supervision by the people, organizations, and the media.
