Hanoi’s business community drives the capital’s economic development

(VOVWORLD) - The business community plays a particularly important role in the economic development of the nation and Hanoi in particular. They are the main force to realize the growth targets, reduce poverty, generate jobs, and address social security issues.

Businesses in Hanoi are strongly recovering and gaining breakthroughs despite many difficulties left by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past nine months, Hanoi has nearly 22,000 newly registered enterprises, up 25% against last year. More than 8,100 businesses have resumed operation, up 0.3%. The result is thanks to the support of authorities at all levels.

At a meeting with Hanoi’s businesses to mark Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day, October 13, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh renewed the municipal administration’s pledges to accompany the business community and continue implementing drastic solutions to resolve any problems faced by businesses to jointly seize opportunities and grow more strongly.

All the moves will help entrepreneurs contribute more to the building and development of the capital city, said Mr. Thanh.

“The Party and State have been determined and taken drastic measures to create the best conditions for the business community. But there remain certain difficulties that we are fully aware of. We will work harder and accompany businesses to deal with these difficulties as quickly and safely as possible. That is our ultimate goal,” said Thanh.

During the pandemic, the business community played a special role in the capital city's economic and social restructuring, creating jobs, and solving social security issues regardless of numerous challenges.

Chair of the Board of Directors of BRG Group Nguyen Thi Nga, one of the top 10 outstanding Vietnamese entrepreneurs in 2022, told VOV that it was indeed a huge challenge to maintain jobs for the 22,000 employees during the pandemic.

“But BRG Group had set the biggest goal that was to ensure the social security for all our employees. We had arranged production in such a way that no workers had to quit job, and maintained their income,” said Nga.

Hanoi has been outlining breakthrough solutions to improve the business and investment environment, facilitating the best conditions for businesses in the capital city.

Local authorities have promulgated many plans and implemented policies to support the establishment of new businesses, the access to credit and bank capital, human resource training, production premises, and the organization of trade and investment promotion programs at home and abroad.

In addition, Hanoi’s policies to support investment and start-up such as innovation centers and incubation programs have helped many businesses in the city achieve certain successes. Several have won high prizes in national startup competitions.

According to Mac Quoc Anh, Deputy Chairman of Hanoi’s Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Association, “The position and role of businesses have been recognized in Party resolutions for many years. It means they have made great contributions to and created wide influence on the economy.”

Based on the achievements, Hanoi’s business community will continue promoting solidarity, innovation, and create breakthrough solutions in corporate governance, improving productivity, quality and competitiveness of products and services at home and abroad, and developing Hanoi’s brands on par with regional and global levels.
