B: In his recent correspondence, he told us about the celebration of International UN Peacekeeper Day, May 29, in India and Bangladesh. He said the Day is observed to honor the peacekeepers who participate in the UN peacekeeping operations.According to Sanyal, India has deployed 180,000 troops to 43 UN peacekeeping missions.
A: Thank you, Sanyal, for sharing this with us. Vietnam on May 25 hosted a ceremony in New York to mark the 75th anniversary of UN Peacekeeping.
B: The event gathered members of Vietnamese representative agencies in New York, commanders and officers of the Vietnamese army and police forces on duty at the UN peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic, South Sudan, and Abyei region, and four Vietnamese peacekeeping officers on secondment at UN headquarters.

A: Since Vietnam officially joined the UN peacekeeping operation in June 2014, it has sent more than 500 officers and soldiers to conflict zones in Africa.
B: Over the past eight years, Vietnam has increased the number of its peacekeepers in UN operations and has maintained a level-2 field hospital at the UN Mission in South Sudan since 2018. The percentage of Vietnamese female participants is always higher than the level called for by the UN.
A: An international workshop held in Hanoi on May 29 stressed the crucial role of female police officers in UN peacekeeping missions and the importance of diversity in conflict settlement and post-conflict peace building.
B: The workshop was part of a regional project called “Empowering Women for Sustainable Peace: Preventing Violence and Promoting Social Cohesion in ASEAN”, funded by Canada and the Republic of Korea.
A: Participants looked into barriers and challenges to female officers' participation in UN peacekeeping operations and their benefits to the locality: enhancing community solidarity, boosting gender-sensitive access to justice, and a gender-sensitive approach to conflict settlement, thereby building up trust and promoting peace in conflict-hit countries and territories.
B: Vietnam has been actively engaged in international cooperation in this field and has organized many international conferences and seminars on peacekeeping. Vietnamese officers have fulfilled their tasks and have been praised by the UN and the host country for their capacity and professionalism.

A: Unlike other hotels that have reception counters on the ground floor, the Landmark 81, which has 81 floors, greets its guests with an elevator ride to a reception counter on the 48th floor, which offers a birds-eye view of the central park and the Sai Gon river below. This is a magnificent structure that includes hotel rooms, serviced apartments, office suites, shopping centers, bars, restaurants, observation decks, and other amenities.
B: It was designed by Atkins,a British architectural company that frequently designs world-class projects, such as the Bahrain World Trade Center, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Saudi Arabia, and the Lotus Hotel in Shanghai, China.The tower's design is inspired by the traditional bamboo bundle which represents strength and unity in Vietnamese culture.
A: The 461-meter building set many records. It’s the tallest building with the highest observation deck in Vietnam, and has the highest bar and restaurant in Southeast Asia.

B: The Landmark 81 has become a new architectural icon of Ho Chi Minh City and a symbol of Vietnam’s economic progress. In downtown Ho Chi Minh City, the Bitexco Financial Tower, called the Saigon Skydeck, was previously the tallest building at 260-meters. Tourists flock to its observation deck on the 49th floor for a spectacular 360-degree view of the city.
