After nearly 2 months of suspending production, Me Tri com village in Mieu Dam street, Tu Liem ward, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi, begin to be busy again. The sound of rice milling machine and the sound of pestle pounding the nuggets have bustled.
The people of Me Tri village are famous for making green rice for generations. They all grow rice and make their own "com", something different from the way "com" are made in Vong village, another famous "com" making village in Cau Giay district, Hanoi.
Villager Nguyen Thi Dang, 67 years old, said, "Every day when I hear the sound of the mortar and pestle and the rice mill, I feel like I am a few years younger. That familiar and peaceful feeling can not be found anywhere else".

Mr. Binh, 58, said the whole village had to work moderately during the social distancing
Currently, the production facility of Mr. Binh's family is returning to normal operation to meet orders and prepare for the new crop
After careful selection, the rice will be put into a roasting pan made from cast iron
The roasting process takes more than 60 minutes, and constant stirring
The pounding process must ensure that "com" are thin and soft in a whole rice. 10 kg of rice will produce 1.6 - 1.7 kg of "com". Each crop can produce 70 tons of "com. " Me Tri "com" is a specialty of Hanoi.
