13th National Assembly’s last meeting begins

(VOVworld) - The 13th National Assembly (NA) convened its 11th meeting – the last one – in Hanoi on Monday. Attending the opening ceremony were leaders and former leaders of the State and the National Assembly, and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung spoke at the opening ceremony: “The National Assembly will review Vietnam’s socio-economic development over the past 5 years and suggest work that need to be done in the coming years. The National Assembly will also consider draft laws, including the draft Law on Access to Information, the Law on Journalism, the Law on Signing, Joining, and Implementing International Treaties, the Law on Child Protection, Care and Education, the Pharmaceutical Law, and supplements to the draft Law on Value added Tax, and the Law on Export and Import Duties. The National Assembly will review the State’s operation in the last term”.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, on behalf of the government, delivered a speech on a report on supplementary assessments of the implementation of the 2015 socio-economic development plan, a socio-economic development plan for 2016, and a report on socio-economic development plans for 2016-2020. 

Earlier, Party and state leaders and deputies paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.
