13th National Party Congress expected to create breakthroughs

(VOVWORLD) - The ongoing 13th National Party Congress is capturing the interest of Vietnamese people.

Nguyen Ngoc Dinh in the southern province of Binh Duong said he is closely watching the Congress with high hopes.

“I hope the Congress will create new momentum for national development and consolidate people’s trust. I believe that the Congress will succeed, creating a steppingstone for future development and bringing Vietnam on par with powerful countries in the world,”  he said.

Le Thi Thu of the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau said, "The Congress takes place while Vietnam’s status increases globally. Our achievements in the fight against COVID-19 have been recognized worldwide. I believe that the Congress will result in improved science and technology, more investment to develop smart cities, and further international integration.”    

Hoang Van Hoc of the Khang ethnic minority group in the northwestern province of Son La said, “We hope the Party and State will continue to focus on ethnic affairs to help ethnic  minority people preserve our traditions, customs, culture, and languages for future generations.”

The Congress, which opened on Tuesday, will review 35 years of renewal, 30 years of implementing the 1991 Political Platform, 10 years of implementing the 2011 Platform, and the implementation of the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy, and set out socio-economic development orientations and tasks for 2021-2025, as well as targets and directions until 2030 with a vision to 2045. 

The Congress will also review Party building and rectification and the leadership of the 12th Party Central Committee, determine orientation and tasks of the Party in the new tenure, evaluate the implementation of Party regulations, and elect the 13th Party Central Committee.
