13th National Party Congress to set out orientations for future national development

(VOVWORLD) - The 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) officially opened on Tuesday at the My Dinh National Convention Center in Hanoi.

With the motto "Unity – Democracy – Discipline – Creativeness – Development", the 13th National Party Congress is attended by 1,587 delegates representing more than 5.1 million Party members nationwide.

The Congress will discuss the implementation of the previous Congress’s Resolution, review 35 years of the renewal process, 30 years of the 1991 Platform, 10 years of the 2011 Platform (amended) and the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy, and set out the socio-economic development orientations and tasks for 2021-2025, the goals and orientations for 2030, and the national development vision to 2045.

The Congress will also review Party building work and the leadership of the 12th Party Central Committee, and elect a new Party Central Committee.

At a preparatory session on Monday, the Congress adopted working regulations, elected a 17-member Presidium, a five-member secretarial delegation, and a delegate eligibility verification board. Delegates also approved the Congress’s working program, election rules and a report on delegates’ eligibility.
