Ho Tan Tai (13) scores the first goal for Vietnam in the 9th minute.

This is their first win over China and first victory in the final round of 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Vietnam have also become the first Southeast Asian team to secure a win in a World Cup qualification final round. 

Vietnam’s goals were scored by Ho Tan Tai, Nguyen Tien Linh, and Phan Van Duc.

China scored a consolation goal with the last kick of the match as Xu Xin volleyed home. 

Both Vietnam and China have been out of the running for a spot in Qatar later this year.
