(VOVWORLD) -The People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province have adopted a project to develop Hue into a capital city of Ao Dai (Vietnam’s long traditional dress).

Under the project worth 22.8 million USD, by 2025 Hue will complete an image database of Hue ao dai through historic periods, organize Hue community Ao Dai Week, build the "Hue-Capital of Ao Dai" brand, and form a tourism product associated with Hue Ao Dai.
By 2030, Thua Thien Hue will establish a museum, a center for displaying, performing and tailoring Ao Dai to serve tourists, and compile a dossier to request UNESCO to recognize the cultural heritage of tailoring and use of the traditional dress.
Nguyen Thanh Binh, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said, “We’ll continue to organize more activities to introduce comprehensively the culture of Ao Dai, to restore the Ao Dai of both men and women, and clarify its value in the Vietnamese and Hue culture.”
