The Vietnamese delegation is led by Ambassador Duong Chi Dung, head of the permanent Vietnamese mission to the UN, the World Trade Organization (WTO), and other international organizations in Geneva.

UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet said human rights issues should be addressed by Council members regardless of their political differences. She called on all countries to protect and promote human rights without discrimination.

Ambassador Dung conveyed the greetings of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh to Mrs. Bachelet and said he hopes cooperation between the two sides will continue to flourish.

Before it ends on September 28, the session is expected to adopt more than 20 draft resolutions.
