(VOVworld) – A ceremony to mark the 60^th anniversary of the traditional day of the Vinh Linh Special Zone and receive the State President’s first-class Independence Order took place on Monday in Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province.

Following the Dien Bien Phu victory and the signing of the Geneva agreement in 1954, the Ben Hai river became the border dividing Vietnam into North and South at the 17^th Parallel. The temporary division lasted for 21 years through the great struggle for national reunification. Vinh Linh has now become a dynamic economic zone and was awarded the Party and State’s title of Labor Hero in the new period. Nguyen Dang Quang is the Secretary of the Party Committee of Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province: “Following its heroic tradition, Vinh Linh province has attained 3 targets: new into a dynamic district and the first developed new rural district in Quang Tri province's rural development, building an infrastructure system, and developing Vinh Linh”.
