81 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed Friday morning

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s total count of infections in the latest COVID-19 wave has risen to almost 9,000 as 81 new cases were added Friday morning, including 60 in HCM city. 

51 of the cases in HCM city had direct contact with previously confirmed cases, and 4 linked to the church cluster in Go Vap district. The sources of transmission of the remaining 5 are still unknown.

The rest of the cases confirmed Friday morning, 21, are in the northern province of Bac Giang. They are all linked to hotspots at industrial parks and had been isolated prior to testing.

Vietnam has detected more than 12,000 coronavirus cases so far, including 61 deaths.
