Activities to mark 60th anniversary of Vietnamese Physicians’ Day

(VOVworld) - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam visited several health clinics in Vinh Phuc province on the occasion of Vietnam Physicians’ Day on February 27. He asked local authorities to modernize medical equipment and improve health workers skills in grassroots level clinics. He called for appropriate policies to development traditional medicines to promote quality of care.

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan congratulated the Central Healthcare Committee and the Vietnam Medical Association on Thursday on the 60th anniversary of Vietnamese Physicians’ Day.

During Nhan’s visit on Wednesday, he asked the Military Medical Department to promote its strength and enhance affiliation with domestic and foreign healthcare units. Health workers there were asked to better themselves to provide higher quality services for soldiers and civilians and improve Vietnam’s healthcare services at all levels. Nhan also visited Military Central Hospital 108 and Viet Duc Hospital on Wednesday.

The same day, Ho Chi Minh city hosted an art program honoring contributions of Vietnamese physicians. Films about the development of the healthcare sector in the south and honoring outstanding physicians were screened as part of the program. Dao Thi Thanh Thuy from Tu Du hospital attended the program and said:“I hope this program will make people better understand the work of health practitioners. Their sympathy is a great source of encouragement for us.”      

Ho Chi Minh city’s Health Department received Vietnam’s third-class Independence Order for its contributions to Vietnam’s construction and defense.
Da Nang city organized a meeting to mark Vietnamese Physicians’ Day and award outstanding doctors during 2014. More than 1,000 People’s and Emeritus doctors, as well as representatives from health facilities in the city attended the meeting.
Pham Hung Chien, Director of Da Nang city’s Health Department said that this year the sector will continue to improve the quality of healthcare personnel and infrastructure. “The health sector has to complete many important projects this year including the emergency response and recovery section at Hai Chau hospital, Hoa Vang Health Center, and a Cardiovascular Center. The provincial health sector will improve quality to realize its long term plan to become one of Vietnam’s top 5 medical hubs.”

Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has inaugurated the Ba Ria hospital with 700 beds and modern equipment.
