The withdrawal of Australian and US-led international forces is threatening an uncertain future for the southwestern Asian country.

Australian Defence Minister Peter Dutton on Sunday confirmed all Australian troops have officially withdrawn from Afghanistan, which was ahead of the September deadline that was set, according to a local media.

Dutton also said the operation in Afghanistan is now over, but the terrorist threat has not disappeared. The Australian military will continue to cooperate with US and allied forces in efforts to defeat terrorism and protect the national interests of Australia and its allies.
