(VOVWORLD) - The 16th Covid-19 patient, the last of cases confirmed so far in Vietnam, was released from the Quang Ha general clinic in Vinh Phuc province on Wednesday.

To date, Vietnam has cured all 16 cases of new coronavirus infection and reported no new cases since February 13.
Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said: “We have been successful so far in controlling the disease but are now entering a new and more challenging phase. When the epidemic first broke out in China, Vietnam prevented it effectively. Now it has spread tothe Republic of Korea, requiring us to restrict travel and quarantine for 14 days anyone arriving from Korea.”
Localities in Vietnam are conducting health checks and quarantining people coming from affected regions. Quarantined individuals are given daily medical examinations.
On Tuesday, 145 citizens held for 14 days in quarantine areas in Bac Can province were released after being confirmed without symptoms of the acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
The same day, a medical inspection team at Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa province quarantined five Vietnamese students returning from the Republic of Korea’s Daegu city. Disinfection was then carried out on arriving aircraft and the airport’s arrival area.
Also on Tuesday, Quang Binh health officials instructed a female student returning from South Korea to self-quarantine for 14 days.
Twenty tourists from the Republic of Korea were flown back home on Tuesday night, one day after their arrival in Da Nang city.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Vietnamese citizens to avoid travel to areas affected by Covid-19. Those who are abroad are advised to be cautious and follow instructions of local health officials.
