The program was co-hosted by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee and the Central Steering Committee for National Target Programs.

As of Monday, more than 100 organizations, individuals, businesses, ministries, and industries had pledged more than 20 million USD to the “For the poor” fund. The VFF Central Committee will coordinate with the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to build 1,000 charity houses for poor families. Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said: “We should try hard to create a stable life for the poor in order that no one is left behind. Over the years, businesses, groups, and individuals have contributed generously to help poor families escape poverty.”

Ho Chi Minh City has launched a Month of Action for the Poor by providing houses and livelihood facilities to the needy worth 100,000 USD. Vo Thi Hong, a beneficiary of housing support in Phu Nhuan District, said: “My household is classified as poor and the donation is beyond my imagination. I am thankful to the community  and local government’s support.”
