Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed al-Jubeir, who chaired the meeting, said the US decision to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem defies international law and ignores the rights of the Palestinian people. He warned of the dangerous consequences of the US decision, which has provoked anger among Muslims. Al-Jubeir said Saudi Arabia rejects the US decision and will continue to help the Palestinian people until they establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He condemned Israel's killing of protesters in the Gaza Strip in recent days.

At the meeting, Arab League chief Ahmed Abul Gheit called for an international probe into alleged “crimes” committed by Israeli forces against Palestinians demonstrating along the Gaza border this week.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki suggested that Arab countries recall their ambassadors from the United States in protest of Washington’s move. He said there is no harm in Arab states collectively recalling their ambassadors for consultations.
