Around 450,000 USD donated to build schools on Sinh Ton island

(VOVworld) – Around 450,000 USD has been donated to build schools on Sinh Ton island as part of the program “For beloved students in Truong Sa” launched in late August. The money was collected from businesses, people from all walks of life, and overseas Vietnamese in Germany, Russia, Hungary, Austria, and Poland.

More new schools to be built on Truong Sa.

At a ceremony to review the 1st phase of the program on Thursday in Ho Chi Minh city, Mai Ngoc Phuoc, deputy editor in chief of Ho Chi Minh City’s Law Newspaper granted the money to Truong Sa district’s authorities with the aim of having new schools ready on the island for the next academic year 2014-2015. He said: "The program is of great significance as it helps to improve the living conditions of people on the islands and at the same time reflects the mainland people’s feelings and concern for those living on the islands. We hope to receive more donations in the 2nd phase of the program in order to accomplish our mission of building new schools for the country’s future generations."
