ASEAN Joint Consultative Meeting prepares for 36th ASEAN Summit
(VOVWORLD) - The ASEAN Joint Consultative Meeting (JCM) took place on Friday in preparation for the 36th ASEAN Summit in Da Nang City next month, involving senior officials of ASEAN Community pillars, heads of the delegations of ASEAN members, and the bloc’s Secretariat.

On behalf of the ASEAN Chair 2020, Vietnam’s Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung announced the summit’s planned agenda including a special meeting of ASEAN leaders on gender equality and the empowerment of women and improvement of the quality of the dialogue among leaders of the General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
He provided details of the plan to be implemented and shared the expected outcomes of Vietnam’s initiatives in 2020 while underscoring the importance of enhancing coordination among the community’s three pillars while maintaining a comprehensive, inclusive approach to realize ASEAN’s commitments and cooperative plans in community building.
