Citing a report released by the UN on the global urbanisation outlook until 2025, Carson Blake Roper, a market expert from the European Union (EU), said that most of the world’s largest cities are in Asia.

Roper noted that the middle class population of Asia will see the fastest growth in the near future, leading to a greater demand for products with high protein content, especially shrimp and fish.

He said Asia is also seeing a lot of new-generation free trade agreements, which will boost future regional trade development.

Le Van Quang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Minh Phu Seafood Company, said that in the years ahead, shrimp consumption in Asia will increase dramatically, particularly in China, where shrimp cultivation is declining sharply. The demand for shrimp in Japan and the Republic of Korea is also increasing rapidly.
