Australian Prime Minister visits Afghanistan ahead of Obama meeting

(VOVworld) – Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull paid an unscheduled visit to Afghanistan on Sunday where he met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Australian Defense Forces at the Hamid Karzai international airport in Kabul. He announced that Australia will send an additional 20 soldiers to Afghanistan, bringing the total number of Australian troops there to 270.

Turnbull left Afghanistan for a 2-day visit to the US where he and US President Barack Obama will discuss financial reforms, security, trade, recent tensions in the East Sea and East China Sea, and the US Marine rotation through northern Australia.
