A subway strike has entered the third day after negotiations between the trade union and the leaders failed. Some roads were congested in Sao Paulo and commuters fumed in long bus lines just five days until the mega-city hosts the opening game. 95% of the sub-way sector’s workers support the strike. The trade has reduced the salary increase request from 16% to 12.2% but the subway sector leaders insisted on an 8.7% pay rise. The court will judge the strike’s legality on June 8.
