Buddhist Sangha working to popularize culture abroad

(VOVWORLD) - A delegation of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), led by its culture committee head Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac, is making a monthlong working visit to Europe from April 12, as part of activities to popularize Vietnam’s Buddhist cultural identity to Vietnamese communities abroad.

In a meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium on Thursday, Most Venerable Lac said that numerous Buddhist associations and cultural centers under the VBS have been set up in 33 countries and territories worldwide.

He highlighted the importance of four projects on language, Dharma costume, architecture and heritage in promoting Vietnam’s traditional identity, culture, and language to the world.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg and head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the European Union Nguyen Van Thao said he hopes the VBS will strengthen its Buddhist activities in Europe in general and in Belgium in particular.
