Businesses seek opportunities at Int’l Boston Seafood Show

(VOVworld)-Nearly 30 Vietnamese businesses are attending the International Boston Seafood Show in Massachusetts, the US. The three-day event, beginning yesterday is the largest in the North American region introducing frozen and canned seafood products.  Representatives from over 1000 import-export companies, distributors and supermarkets from the US and other nations attended the event.  Among Vietnam’s traditional seafood products are Tra and Basa fish, mostly in raw form. The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has held an international seminar on this occasion on original trace of species to improve competitiveness of the domestic seafood industry. Truong Dinh Hoe, General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) said: "Importers will get updated information about international certification and product origin tracing techniques to improve product  quality. After this seafood show, businesses will meet with their potential clients to explore  export expansion" opportunities.

Vietnam's biggest importer is the US with its orders  last year worth US$1.2 billion, accounting for 40 percent of the country’s seafood export earnings.
