Chairman of HCM City’s People Committee named

(VOVworld) – Vice Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong has been elected as Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee with a 97 percent approval rating. The election took place in HCM City on Friday during the last sitting day of the municipal People’s Council’s 20
th session for the 2011-2016 tenure. Phong was re-elected as Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee for 2015-2020 during its recent 10
th Congress.
HCM City has fulfilled 23 of the 25 socio-economic targets for 2015 set by the council, posting stable and fair economic growth. Local gross domestic product this year grew by 9.8 percent from 2014, the highest year-on-year growth in three years. The city raked in some 62.82 billion USD in export revenue and welcomed 4.6 million foreign tourists in 2015.
