China, EU discuss climate change cooperation
(VOVWORLD) - China attaches importance to protecting the ecosystem and environment, combating climate change, and continuously promoting green development and carbon emission reduction, said Chinese First Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.

Speaking at the fourth China-European Union High Level Dialogue on Environment and Climate (HECD) in Beijing on Tuesday, which he co-chaired with Executive Vice-President (EVP) of the European Commissions Frans Timmermans, Ding Xuexiang called for improved outcomes from the cooperation through high-level dialogues, continuing to build consensus and trust, and expand bilateral cooperation.
EVP Timmermans said "large emitters, such as the EU and China, must lead and build global consensus" to combat climate change. The two sides discussed further avenues for cooperation on climate mitigation, including methane, adaptation, the green energy transition and its socio-economic challenges, the circular economy, water, pollution and biodiversity, deforestation and wildlife trafficking.
