China leads medal tally at Tokyo 2020 Olympics

(VOVWORLD) - As of 9 am Monday (Hanoi time), 3 days after the opening of the Olympic Games, China made its way to the top of the Games medal tally  with 6 gold medals. The host team Japan closely followed China with 5 gold medals, the US team ranked 3rd with 4 gold medals.

On Sunday, Vietnam had 6 athletes competing in 5 events. The latest athlete to compete on Sunday evening, badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh succumbed to World No3 Anders Antonsen of Denmark after 2 sets with the same score 13-21.

During the first days of the Olympics, rowers Luong Thi Thao and Dinh Thi Hao, judo fighter Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, boxer Nguyen Thi Tam, weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan, marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh, taekwondo fighter Truong Thi Kim Tuyen, and gymnasts Dinh Phuong Thanh and Le Thanh Tung were eliminated.

Vietnam sent 18 athletes to the Games to compete in 11 sports.
