Coast guard law enforcement protects national sovereignty in line with international law

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Defense held a video training conference on Friday on the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard which was adopted in 2018 and came into force last July.

The Law stipulates that the Vietnam Coast Guard is a branch of the armed forces, the specialized force of the State, and enforcer of law, protecting national security, safety and order on the sea by using legal documents and peaceful means.

Major General Tran Van Nam, Deputy Commander of the High Command of the Vietnam Coast Guard, said, “The Law has concretized the views and policies of the Party and State in the protection of national sovereignty, sovereignty rights, and jurisdiction by means of law and peace to turn the territorial waters of Vietnam, Southeast Asia and international seas into a peaceful and stable place for cooperation and development.”
