(VOVworld) – 38 outstanding organizations and 135 individuals in the 2013 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign have been honored and rewarded. The Sunday event in Hanoi was co-hosted by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Hanoi Youth Union. Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Dac Vinh, first secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Students’ Association, said this year’s campaign had plentiful contents, contributing to resolving problems facing the community. Vinh said: “This year’s campaign concluded, but volunteer activities will continue in upcoming programs of “Winter volunteer”, “Spring volunteer”, “Spring in border, Tet on islands”. Youth union organizations should diversify method of implementation of the 20-year youth volunteer movement, which enters a new development period, contributing to success of next year’s campaign.”
The 2013 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign which lasted 3 months attracted people from all walks of life. Youth Union members and young volunteers nationwide have built and repaired nearly 1,300 km of rural roads and more than 2,100 cultural houses in localities. They organized many blood donation campaigns and collected around 200,000 blood units.
