(VOVWORLD) -The Czech government approved a defense cooperation agreement with the US on Wednesday, setting the framework for a potential US military presence in the Czech Republic.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said this is an important step that strengthens the security of the Czech Republic and its people.
The document must still be approved by both houses of Parliament and signed by the president after it is signed by the defense minister.
