Czech Republic keen on economic cooperation with Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - The Czech Republic is keen on economic development and cooperation with Vietnam, Czech Ambassador to Vietnam Vitezslav Grepl said in a recent interview with VOV on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia.

Mr. Grepl said the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) is an important factors in the development of Vietnam-Czech relations.

The agreement will take effect early next year and will be a great opportunity for businesses in both countries.

Mr. Grepl said the Czech government fully supports the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement. To date, Czech enterprises have invested in 34 projects in Vietnam worth more than 100 million USD. One of the most important projects is establishing a direct air route between the two countries, which is expected to boost their bilateral economic and tourism relationship. Mr. Grepl said the Czech government always creates the best possible conditions for Vietnamese investors to do business in Czech. The plan to open a Czech House in Hanoi will become a big project in culture, tourism, and education cooperation with Vietnam. Czech intends to open a consulate general in HCMC.

The Ambassador said a photo exhibit, a film screening, and a mini soccer competition have been held in Vietnam this year to mark the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia.
