Da Nang city conducts drill to respond to oil spills at sea

(VOVWORLD) - A drill to respond to level-1 oil spill was held at Tho Quang specialized port in Da Nang City last week, involving 150 people and advanced vehicles and equipment.

According to the drill scenario, a tanker carrying 3,000 tons of asphalt docked at Tho Quang port had its left side collide with the wharf, tearing the hull and perforating the fuel storage compartment.

There was a risk of fire or explosion in the vessels. Three crew members were injured. There was about 40m3 of DO oil left on the vessel.

The Da Nang Border Guard Command ship approached the ship and gave first aid, bringing the 3 seriously injured people to the mainland for emergency treatment. Since 2007 12 oil spills have occurred in Da Nang city.
