Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam said economic, and trade cooperation and investment are major topics at the meetings between Vietnam’s President and Brunei and Singapore’s leaders. Vietnam and Brunei have set a target of 500 million USD in two-way trade in 2025. Vietnam and Singapore agreed to reproduce duplicate the VSIP model in Vietnam, firstly in Danang.

President Tran Dai Quang and the leaders of Brunei and Singapore agreed to foster cooperation in education and training, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges. The leaders confirmed the need to work together on national defense against terrorist, transnational crime, and non-transnational security threats.

According to Mr. Nam, in the context of complicated adverse developments, cooperation to assure security, peace, and stability in the region were carefully discussed. The leaders were aware of the importance of cooperation and solidarity to assure peace, pledging their close cooperation at regional and international forums.

During the visit, President Quang gave a speech at the Southeast Asia Research Institute, where he sent a message focusing on sustainable development and the environment. President Quang also stressed the need to promote cooperation within ASEAN and to connect member economies.

Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam said, Vietnam, Singapore and Brunei shared the same view on regional and international issues, especially as regards ASEAN and East Sea. This presents favorable conditions for Vietnam to boost cooperation with other ASEAN members to realize the development goals of the ASEAN Community.
