Deputy PM attends China-ASEAN Expo

(VOVWORLD) - The China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) are important for economic and trade ties between ASEAN and China, said Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam at the opening ceremony of the two events, now in their 16th year, in the Chinese city of Nanning on Saturday.

Mr. Dam said that Vietnam always collaborates with ASEAN and its partners in facilitating business, investment, and sustainable development to ensure countries’ legitimate interests in accordance with international law, contributing to peace, cooperation and prosperity in the region and the world.

On this occasion, the Deputy PM had talks with Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng and received Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Lu Xinshe. Mr. Dam clarified Vietnam’s stance on the East Sea issue, demanding that China respect Vietnam’s rights and legitimate interests and stop complicating the situation at sea.

The two Chinese officials affirmed China’s respect for the friendly neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.

This year’s CAEXPO features 2,500 businesses from Southeast Asia. The 150 participating Vietnamese firms showcase their products in 250 booths, the largest number among ASEAN countries.
