At a meeting with Quang Ninh authorities the same day, Phuc praised the province's efforts to overcome consequences caused by storms and floods. He asked the Ministry of Finance to allocate funding for restoring main transport routes and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to work with the Coal and Mineral Group to clean up mud waste. Mr. Phuc: We need to clean up the environment to prevent diseases and ensure normal activities of local people. We also need to take care of flood victims, provide them with food and water and ensure their traveling. It’s important to closely follow weather developments to take prompt actions”.

By Saturday, all 1,500 tourists stranded on Co To island due to prolonged torrential rain were safely brought to the mainland. Donation for disaster victims has totaled 55 billion VND. In Ha Long and Cam Pha cities, the weather has become better and water in flooding areas is receding. 17 people died, 6 are missing, 28 houses collapsed, 3,700 houses and schools were submerged underwater, and infrastructure was heavily damaged in the prolonged and heaviest rain in 40 years in Quang Ninh. Total losses are estimated at more than 2 trillion VND including 1 trillion VND suffered by the coal sector.
