(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held a working session with leaders of Kon Tum province on Saturday.

He praised the province’s efforts to fulfill socio-economic, defense, and security tasks in the first 6 months of the year. The province maintained a growth rate of 11.68% and credit organizations mobilized 350 million USD as loans for production and to improve healthcare and social security. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc talked about key tasks to be done during the remainder of the year: “It is crucial to safeguard national defense and security, consolidate unity, build a solid political system and coordinate forces to defend national sovereignty. It’s also important to expand economic cooperation with other countries and build a border of friendship. Central agencies should help Kon Tum restructure its economy to tap its potential. More investment should be made in infrastructure development in poor districts such as Tu Mo Rong and Kon Plong.”

He also agreed to the policy of building the Quoc Mon border gate at the Bo Y international border gate and upgrading national highways 40 and 40B.
