Deputy Prime Minister receives EU High Commissioner for Environment

(VOVworld) - Vietnam upholds its international commitment to combat illegal wildlife crimes. Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung told the visiting EU High Commissioner for Environment Karmenu Vella in Hanoi on Friday that the Vietnamese government has issued numerous directives to prevent the poaching of wildlife animals and reiterated Vietnam’s determination to implement the COP 21 Paris agreement on climate change.

He praised the Vietnam-EU finalization of negotiation on a bilateral agreement on afforestation and forestry trade and called for EU support in the implementation of the Vietnam-EU Partnership Cooperation Agreement and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement. Commissioner Vella expected more cooperation at business and people’s levels and pledged support for Vietnam’s climate change response, maritime economy and research.
