At their ongoing meeting in Hanoi on Thursday, they discussed the development of the law which comprises 8 chapters and 79 articles, detailing regulations governing the relationships among stakeholders participating in digital activities in Vietnam.
Deputy Nguyen Quang Huan from the Ho Chi Minh City delegation stressed the significance of the law as Vietnam aims to increase the digital economy’s contribution to GDP to 30% by 2030 under its five-year socio-economic development plan.
Mr. Huan said: “This is an ambitious target. To drive economic growth and make digital transformation a key engine, we need a comprehensive legal framework. In my view, the timing of this Law is necessary and appropriate, helping to concretize the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and Resolution 57 on innovation and national digital transformation. As we implement the roadmap for the digital economy, digital government, and digital society, a dedicated law is indispensable. Its introduction is a political requirement and a practical necessity.”
The same day, the National Assembly discussed in groups draft revisions to the Law on High Technology, the Law on Technology Transfer, and several other draft laws.
