Dossiers honoring Hai Thuong Lan Ong seeks UNESCO recognition
(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Health held a seminar on physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac’s life and career on Tuesday, and the compilation of a dossier seeking UNESCO recognition for his contribution to Vietnam’s traditional medicine.

The seminar introduced many studies on his life and career – the progenitor of Vietnam’s traditional medicine, and his influence on Vietnam’s medicine, culture, and history.
The seminar also collected opinions for a dossier to submit to UNESCO to honor Hai Thuong Lan Ong and celebrate his 300th birthday in 2024.
Hai Thuong Lan Ong was born in 1724 in Hai Duong province. He left many great works such as Hai Thuong Y Tong Tam Linh of 28 volumes that cover the essence of traditional medicine. It’s considered the best medical work from Vietnam’s medieval period.
