(VOVWORLD) - Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called Saturday for deploying an international stabilization force “as soon as possible” along Gaza’s so-called “yellow line” to verify the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.

In a statement on the situation in Gaza, Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Thani said Doha does not regard the current situation in Gaza as a genuine ceasefire. He stressed that a ceasefire can only be recognized once Israel fully withdraws its forces from Palestinian territory.
Since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, Israel has withdrawn its troops to a newly designated “Yellow Line,” which divides Gaza into eastern and western sections. Under the agreement, Israel was required to reopen the Rafah crossing, but it delayed the move for more than a month, citing Hamas’s failure to return the remains of the last remaining hostage.
Earlier this week, Israel announced it would reopen Rafah for one-way passage to allow Palestinians to leave Gaza. Egypt, however, insists that Palestinians must also be allowed to return.
Mediators including Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, and the United States are currently working together to advance the next phase of the Gaza plan.
