In a column in the Al-Ahram online newspaper on Monday, Gaballa outlined Vietnam’s great socio-economic and diplomatic successeses.

During the last 10 years, Vietnam’s macro-economy has been stable, with inflation under control and kept at a low level, creating a favourable environment for socio-economic growth, he said, adding that in the first half of 2020, Vietnam's GDP grew 1.81% despite the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Vietnam has established strategic or comprehensive partnerships with 30 countries, and is now playing an increasingly important global role politically and diplomatically, largely through its roles as ASEAN Chair and non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and its contribution to UN peacekeeping forces.

Gaballa also reviewed milestones in the Vietnam-Egypt relationship over the past 57 years, highlighted by President Ho Chi Minh's proposal to open a Vietnamese trade office in Egypt in 1958.
