Egypt’s interim government has often accused the group of plotting against the government and considered it a terrorist organization following a suicide bomb attack on police in Mansoura city, which killed 17 people last December.
The Muslim Brotherhood is facing a campaign of repression by Egypt’s security forces following a military coup d’etat last July which overthrew the administration of former President Morsi. Around 3,000 leaders and key members of the organization have been arrested.
