EU imposes 4 billion USD of tariffs on US goods

(VOVWORLD) - The EU said Monday it will impose tariffs on imports of 4 billion USD worth of US goods beginning Tuesday, after the US announced tariffs of 7.5 billion USD on EU products.

The EU had no choice but to impose countermeasures, EU trade commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis told a news conference in Brussels on Monday.
The EU also sent a message saying it wants to end the bitter trade dispute and reboot its relationship with the US.
German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier said the new administration preparing to take power in Washington represents an opportunity to end the trade dispute.
