EU not to renegotiate Brexit

(VOVWORLD) - EU officials have said there is currently no basis for “meaningful discussions” with the UK over Brexit.

David Frost, the government’s new chief Europe adviser, and other EU official said on Monday that Britain would only agree to a deal without what he refers to as the “undemocratic backstop”. Mr. Frost reiterated Prime Minister Borris Johnson’s stance that the backstop element of Theresa May’s plan – which aims to prevent a hard border returning between Ireland and Northern Ireland – had to be abolished. He also said Mr. Johnson’s new ministers were not bound by commitments made by the previous government.
