EU signs development programmes with 21 countries

(VOVworld) – A EU statement issued on Tuesday said that the EU had signed development programmes, worth 445 million USD, with 21 countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.

The European Commissioner for Development, Andris Piebalgs, and representatives from 10 Caribbean countries, 10 Pacific countries, and one African country signed National Indicative Programmes (NIP) under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) from 2014 to 2020 in Samoa.
In 2013 the EU provided 78 countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific with 39.7 billion USD under the EDF for the next 7 years. Experts predicted that in the beginning of 2015, remaining National Indicative Programmes would be signed.
