EU to invest 1.5 billion euro in AI factories
(VOVWORLD) -The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC) has selected seven proposals to establish and operate the first AI factories in Europe.
This is a major milestone for Europe in building a thriving ecosystem to train advanced AI models and develop AI solutions. The EU is now one step closer to realizing President Ursula von der Leyen's promise to set up Europe’s first AI factories.
The investment will combine national and EU funding. Half will be funded by the EU through the Digital Europe Program for AI infrastructure and Horizon Europe for AIF services.
The factories will be set up at leading research and technology hubs across Europe in Barcelona (Spain), Bologna (Italy), Kajaani (Finland), Bissen (Luxembourg), Linköping (Sweden), Stuttgart (Germany), and Athens (Greece), reflecting the EU's commitment to fostering a robust and inclusive AI ecosystem anchored in leading research and technology hubs.
