EU to meet for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak

(VOVWORLD) - 27 EU leaders will meet in Brussels on July 17 to discuss an economic recovery package.

The 2-day event will be the first person-to person summit since the COVID-19 outbreak.

Officials will discuss an 823-billion-USD recovery plan proposed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The package includes 560 billion USD in subsidies, suggested by France and Germany, and the rest in the form of loans to help businesses recover from an unprecedented crisis. To fund the package, the EU will borrow from financial markets.
